The Awori Summit 2022 kicked off with a bang! Band EnRoute was engaged by the visionary convener, HRM Oba Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade, the 20th Olofin of Isheri & Adimula of Awori Kingdom.

The client’s wish was for music to start at exactly 10am. This way, as royalty from all over Awori land step into the venue, they are greeted with warm music. That was what we delivered, saving the pulsating and groovy jams for later in the event.

It was quite a sight for me, seeing all those traditional rulers in one place, forging the way forward for their people. That says a lot about the person who brought them all together under one roof to discuss a desired future.

A Funny Serious Business

Before the event began, I needed to get something so I went off to the Opic estates gate. Getting there, I stopped a commercial bike and asked him if he knew so-and-so street? He agreed that he did. To be sure, I asked him the question three times because even I, found the name of the street hard to pronounce. Again, he affirmed that he did. So I hopped-on his bike, and off we zoomed.

We went on-and-on and then to my amazement, he asked me “haven’t we gotten there yet“? In bewilderment, I reminded him of our conversation before I boarded his bike. To this he shrugged, smiled and said… “well, I assumed you knew where you were going to“.

That’s what I would call, hustling by any means necessary. With my business done, I returned to the venue to entertain the royalties of aworiland.

My desire is that Awori Summit 2022 not end up as a one-off event. Let this be the beginning of an era of positive change and progress for all.
